    Missing stereo 1997 ski nautique

Any ideas on the simplest way to replace the missing stereo on my 1997
Bought it used in great shape but it is missing the stereo.
I just wAnt something simple plug and play preferably that will plug into the existing harness.
Any one know what stereo it came with?
It has four speakers installed and an antenna and harness just no deck.
I am not an audiophile, I just want a radio.
    Thanks

Well the original deck should've been a Clarion(single din) . Can you take a pic of the remote? I am having a hard time remembering what it looked like that year.

You can get a newer model Clarion deck and with a conversion adapter that will allow you to run the old remote with the new head unit. The Clarion M303 is a good basic unit

i can say for sure, you dont want a 19 year old head unit if you could find one, as cassettes are a thing of the past. A new head-unit is going to get you blue tooth, USB, apple connectivity and more. For the most part, head-units come with a proprietary connector even though most of the wire colors are standard. So you would need to cut out the existing connector and install the connector that comes with the new head-unit. You will also likely need to replace the retaining cage that actually holds/supports the unit.

I like the clarion M303. Also, the JVC marine powersports unit is pretty good for the price. The sony DSX-m50BT is a solid unit.

So if I buy a clarion 303 will it need an amp or will it run the four stock speakers from the head unit?

You will be able to run the 4 speakers off the head unit no problem at all. The install is very straight forward and just a splice of a few wires which are all color coded in the instructions. The "cage" MLA is referring to usually is included with the head unit. It's the housing that the actual stereo locks in to. They size is pretty universal but the way each brand uses to lock it in to place differs.
