    New member intro

Good evening all. I have done a lot of reading on the forum and thought it was time to join. Thanks for all the info so far, many helpful topics. There is a ton of knowledge and experience on here.

As for me, I am new to the nautique family. We purchased a used 2013 G23 last month and love it so far. The attention to detail is phenomenal in these boats. We also have a 2003 MB Sports 220v which has been a great boat but does not compare to the G!

As a new G owner I do have a few questions if anyone can help:

1). Like most I am not impressed with the stereo. On the old boat I have rev 10 towers, JLw7 13" sub and kicker component in boats with various amps. I'm a huge fan of the wet sounds product! On the new boat we currently have the Z5 bimini, with about 9.5" clearance to tower. Does anyone have a tower speaker recommendation for this application without going to the factory bimini? Will the factory tower speaker wiring suffice?

2). Does the NSS stay deployed when at idle? If so mine may not work, I will investigate more tomorrow.

3). Does anyone prefer the Z5 over factory bimini?

4). Best surf set up with factory ballast and only a few people? So far it seems best for a regular rider with port full, belly full, starboard half full, NCRS at 4 and don't recall NSS setting. Any better suggestions with factory ballast?

Thanks in advance to any and all input. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

    1. I cannot help. I have the factory and am sticking with it for now.

    2. Sorry, but I have not noticed but will check the next time I'm out.

    3. I traded my Z5 for a factory bimini for two reasons. I didn't need the extra storage as the G23 had enough and two, I like the extra head room. With the Z5 I had to remember to put my hand on the bimini when stepping from the back deck onto the floor to keep from hitting my head on it.

    4. I'm a goofy rider so my setup is all full, 300 pounds of lead on starboard and most of the people (usually driver and two others) on starboard. NSS setting 5 if I want a steep slope and lower if I want it longer and shorter.

I believe the NSS only deploys above 5mph (+/-) and below some other mph (maybe 13-14?). it doesn't deploy at idle from my understanding to avoid "catching" the rider as you come to pick them up etc.....basically its has a low/high speed safety mechanism (I'm not for sure what the exact specifics are though so others may be able to tell you more)

Also, if you like wetsound products i think some other people on this site have put rev8's on the tower between the z5 and tower; however, uncertain if there is a way to snug in the 10's....do some more searching in general discussion and in stereo section of this site and you should be able to find some more answers as well as photos.....

Guntersville230- thanks for the response. You are correct and after more research I believe it activates between 7-13. I investigated on the water today and it does work!!! The feedback is very helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone recommend a specific tower speaker other than wet sounds? How about the newer Roswell Neptune 8.0??

The Roswells are pretty great units...I've heard them on a Supra and they sounded great! Also, the new G23 style JL Audio 8.8 tower speakers are fantastic IMO. I was going to order my boat without tower speakers and get Rev10's until I heard the factory JL 8.8's! The Rev10's may be a touch better, but I like the 8.8's for added head room and their sound quality is good enough in my book! Plus, they will fit between the Z5 and tower. Rev10's will not without adjustment (and I believe a custom bracket maybe to lower the Z5 a bit more?). The Rev8's are also great speakers and will fit between the Z5 and tower with minor adjustment to the bimini. And PS...I absolutely favor the factory bimini over the Z5.

Here's a link to the 8.8's offered straight from JL (may can even find them cheaper somewhere else) --->also available in white and in a 7.7 size for an even more compact version
