The 2016 iOS Polk Audio App is so bad, it deserves its own thread.

2016 G21 and iphone 6S Plus

The Polk Audio app that is supposed to connect to the stereo on the new Nautiques is worthless. Half the time it doesnt connect and when it does, it is connected only sporadically, often stopping playback only to see a message flashing on the phone. Trying to control the boat stereo through the phone volume and track selection) is so delayed, that commands start tripping over themselves. Moreover, there is no menu available for playlists, songs, tracks, albums, or anything.

It works much better to just use the music app on the iOS device. But then it only displays the first song you selected, no matter what track you're on. So you can listen to 10 songs and they will all be labeled as the first song you selected. I was so looking forward tot an integrated (non aftermarket) bluetooth stereo in a boat so I am really disappointed in this.


i don't think there is any fix for this, but if anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know.

I still haven't linked my phone to my 2015 230. Am I screwed too or is the 2015 model year better in that regard?

I just cant figure out why a high end builder using top notch equipment can't or just doesn't hire anyone that has a clue about high end audio. It was the same when a top model cost 50k . Now with the high end pushing 200k the audio is still just a bunch of equipment installed but never set up . You can buy a 20k car that will blow away any Nautique system.

My 2015 works great as far as the bluetooth. I usually use Spotify and am able to control the music with my phone or with the display. This will be terribly disappointing if the new boat is not as easy. The boat display shows what song is currently playing.

Yes. Its primarily the Polk Ultramarine app that is supposed to control the Polk head-unit. But then again, if you dont use the app, the Nautique displays the wrong song like I described above.

Jeff, How do you get music to the HU? It sounds like you may use it differently than Enzo does.

Well I downloaded the app and synched the phone & boat when the dealer was acquainting us with the boat. So my first attempt was with the app as suggested in the owners manual literature. After being completely unreliable, i just decided to use the iphone music app but then it displays the wrong song on the LINC display.

I mostly just use Pandora via Bluetooth, which works flawlessly with my boat -- correct titles, and the ability to control the phone from the LINC screen. Of course you can't control the music as well with Pandora as you can by playing your own music on your phone, but I can't remember the last time I played my own music directly.

Sucks to hear this. I just ordered a UM1A to replace my PA450UM so that I could have the APP control.....

If I were you, I'd just avoid the Polk Ultramarine app and sync your phone without it. Then you will just use your phone's proprietary app and volume controls. Hopefully yours wil display the correct song.

FWIW, I've had 3 cars (Mercs) in the last several years and every single version of iphone. The iphones do not correctly display the current song playing on my cars' display either. There is no secondary app provided by the manufacturer like in the case with the Polk and Nautique.

I just with the Polk App was usable because it has the capability to display the songs. Nothing else works properly though.
