    DIY Subwoofer repair

I took a chance and repaired my own subwoofer last night. It is a JL 10w6v2. The foam surround had torn either from dry rot or contacting something in the storage area. There is a professional speaker repair place here in town, but they wanted $80 and over a week to replace, plus I would have to drive 20 minutes out of the way to drop off and pick up. I did it in about 2 hours after I ordered the repair kit. The only real hard part was removing all the glue from the frame and cone. Even that was not hard, just tedious and time consuming. After that was done, took maybe 10 minutes to glue on the new surround. I haven't played it yet, but just moving it by hand I don't see why it will not work great. Sure beats buying another $500 speaker! I forgot to take pics along the way, but if anyone is interested, there are great videos on YouTube.
