it is kinda tight to get the front latch depressed, that I believe is the only flaw mine has, but it really isn't that hard to stick your fingers in and push down, I just latch the back one first to hold in place and then the front

no problem, I really can't take credit for the r&d though, just read the team talk forum and decided to try to make one, never thought the one I made would work as well as it does!

It seems like some are attaching the device backwards (JieemQ's pic seems like an example) which would cause less than optimal results I'd imagine. Something to check...!?

Its amazing that you are getting a wave that good with just stock ballast and even weight distribution. That says a lot about the placement and dimensions/geometry of your ghetto gate. You obviously got it figured out. I had stock ballast plus 600s in the rear lockers and a sack under the front seats and couldn't get a good wave going. I didn't get to tweak it much because I got frustrated with boat traffic, but it seemed like I had too much of a rear weight bias because the boat was very much bow in the air at surf speeds.

all I can say is I got lucky with placement and gate size, we did play around some with sacks and more people, the more weight I add to my boat the bigger the wave gets, but still stays nice and clean, with more weight I do have to speed up a little to lengthen the pocket out, I'm sure you will get yours dialed in soon, I saw your other post and the suggestion to turn your gate around may be something you want to try, my hull is shaped much different than yours so I'm probably not the best person to be giving tips though, lol

I would say you are a little off rear to front weight ratio or you are in shallow water. If you have a total of 1400 in both rear lockers then you need approx. 640 as far forward as you can get it to stay with the 60/40 balance. I would also recommend that you start with only stock weight with ghetto gate placed accordingly and then add weight from that reference point depending on wave.

GAME CHANGER!!! I went with an angle on my gate, the three inch bolts on the bottom are for the greatest angle. I cut the gate panel to 8"X6", and cut the handle off the front suction cut to have gate panel as low as possible. Only issue is the HOD is starting to loose its suction, but its ridiculous on my 08 SANTE. I fill everything i can, back piggys FULL and front stock FULL, we filled the boat with people and it was so big!!!! But with only my GF and I and the ballast as full as we can get it, we could ride perfectly. we were riding at 11.3MPH. I ordered new cups with metal frame, it hasn't came in yet.

Setup: about 10.2 mph, 750's about 1/2-3/4 full. Center stock full, 6 people in the boat. I had the wife sit in the bow to see if I can get more length. Still need to play with weight distribution.

                    This wave was AMAZING!

A little tip for the rope attached to the inner suction cup lever. I attached a tether to both levers and I can pull both levers at the same time by pulling on the cord

I was able to get on the water but did not have a lot of time for testing and wasn't able to ride. But below are a few pics with full ballast: 2 750's in rear lockers, center tank full, bow under seat sac full, 200 lbs lead in nose.

                          Hey Guys,
My parts are showing up today, so maybe I'll be able to tell when they show up, but is there a preferred location to drill thru the handles to install the 3" bolts?

                          Wakejunky,
Any pics on what you're describing for the tether? Sounds like it would be a nice addition.

Thanks again to NR2041 for all your work and pictures. I can't wait to put this on my 2002 SANTE.

Side question, has anyone been able to get the port side wake to clean up by weighting the boat. I currently get a very nice wake on the starboard side. I'm really hoping this solution will clean up the port side. I'm tired of the goofy riders having all the fun:-)

no certain place for bolts in particular, there is just a "triangle" area of the handle to drill through, I tried to go in the center of that

as for port side, my crew all rides normal so I have not even tested starboard wave yet, plan to next trip out, just weight boat even and switch gate from side to side depending on rider preference, that is part of why this is so much better than leaning the boat

A few nice "suck gates" in this thread! I figured with the simplicity of the design, most wouldn't pay $500 for something they could make themselves for under $70 and get the same result. I understand R&D and the business side of a product (I'm a small business owner myself) but what I can't understand is, why do these companies charge so much for a product that cost so little to manufacture? One would figure you could make more in the long run selling the product somewhere around the $200 price point but that is just my two cents. I think I will copy the designs posted here, they look good and seem to work just as good.

For those that are interested, Mission put a video up on their instagram feed testing out a 03 SAN https://www.instagram.com/p/BGV4NprFZ8H/
Video says 320 lbs in lockers.
                              650 lbs up front.
looks like they are listing the boat pretty heavy (or slightly turning) to get the port side wave to clean up??

Im interested in building one for an '05 226, not sure if the hull design is the same. any feedback would be much appreciated, super excited to clean up and have a larger wake. one last thought, we will use it on the starboard side does that change anything?
