Ordering 2016 G23 with M Series 8.8 Tower Speakers: Any opinions on 1 pair vs 2 pair? My friend has the 1 pair set-up and the sound behind the boat is good. How much better is it with the additional pair? Anyone have experience upgrading from 1 pair to 2 pair after the act and notice a big difference? Thanks!

neverenought- question for you. did you order boat with one pair then add second pair yourself? did you buy extras from dealer or go elsewhere? is it just plug and play because the wires are already up in tower? did you have to do anything with your amps?
i believe you can only buy black. the nautique ones are only available at dealer and they do not match color.2016 G23

Our boat didn't have tower speakers but did have the tower prep kit at all when we got it last year so I added one pair last season with the HD 600.4 amp. Sounded pretty good but looks really odd with only two up there. So we added a second set this season with another 600.4 amp. I've been down the Wetsounds REV410 and Pro 80s road and was never happy with them. They had too much tweeter and were very bright for us. So far the little JLs are good. I do need to tune it which I need help with. I'm headed down a bunny trail here but I can tell you that JL amps are really awesome. I swapped the one on the in boat polks to the m600.6 and the difference was remarkable. Much cleaner and louder out of the same speakers.
Long story short. Get the second set and enjoy them. Just my opinion but you can't go wrong with JL stuff.

Generally speaking, the Pro 80's were very bright, and a bit low on the midbass projection. The REV 10's are a great speaker, and when properly powered and tuned, do not have that same 'tweeter' sound to them. I do no know why you may not have enjoyed the REV 410. It generally is regarded as having plenty of midbass, and a huge step up from the Pro 80's. Without going into a full diagnostic, I would just say that I have heard both the JL and my REV 10's and I am ordering REV series speakers again. The JL is a very high quality speaker, but will not quite project to a rider going 20+ MPH like a horned speaker can do. If I just needed tower speakers for the beach or for surfing, I would not hesitate to go with JL.

^I would agree with that if you were talking about the 7.7s. In my experience, the 8.8s very easily reach at wakeboard speeds/lengths. I had 4 8.8s on my last boat and found them to be more than enough..... Which is why I went with 2 8.8s and 2 7.7s on my 16G. That provided me with better head clearance in the middle and it still will blast you out at 70' and 23 mph.
I won't argue that the rev10s aren't louder. They are. But I have certainly found the 8.8s to be up to the task.... And sound better while doing so.
