So I've swapped the Polk in boat amp which I think was a 500.5 to a JL 600.6 ft my in boat power. We're still pushing the stock Polk 6.5 in boat speakers. The change in amplifier was awesome!!! Wondering how much better the JL M series or MX 6.5s would sound??? Anyone have a chance to make this swap???

I just bought some MM6501s to hook up to my new JL HD600/4 . Will let you know how they sound.... I haven't seen one bad review on them. Was also thinking of using JL but after spending HOURS of reading I bit the bullet and ordered two sets of the Polks. Left the coaxs in the front because I'm never up there! haha"I'm on a boat........"

Ok well I did M 6.5 in boats and again I'm very impressed with JL! First off was the weight. The JL seemed like it was twice as heavy as the Polk. Sound quality was better and they are certainly louder! Thanks for the push everyone! Looking forward to a great sounding boat this summer!
As a side note anyone using the HD 1200/1 for sub power? I have a cheap Crossfire 1700/1 I was using but the POS is always acting up. I've taken it back a couple times now and tonight testing out the new JL in boats it popped a fuse. I'm ready to pop it in the trash. Sub is a Treo SSP 10 rated at 1000 RMS.

I just installed a 1200/1 for my subs, another for my tower speakers, and a 600/4 for my in boats. Tuning it all tomorrow.... will let you know how it sounds. Also just did a bunch of work behind the panels to help stiffen/ eliminate rattle.... will post pictures of that too."I'm on a boat........"

It's a dual 2 ohm. It's been problematic from the start. First go around was with an SSX Treo 10 and that thing took insane power to drive. When the amp was new it failed and had to go back to the Crossfire folks(which are very cool) and they repaired it. Said something about input signal could have been too high but repaired it. During summerizing this year it had an issue so I took it back and picked up an SSP Treo that doesn't require as much juice. Work great for one outing and then today it popped my power fuse???? It's turned way down and not abuse. I tuned it with a meter and based on the 1000 watt Treo ran jumped at 1 ohm found the square root of 1000 and set gain at 31volts at 3/4 volume. I'm just discouraged with the thing. It's too bad because the guys at crossfire are awesome to deal with.

The JL Audio HD1200/1 running the sub at 4-ohms sounds like the perfect choice. It's 1200 watts minimum across the entire audio bandwidth at any impedance load from 1.5 to 4-ohms and with any supply voltage down to 11 volts (which is lower than you should ever run your batteries). Just about every other amplifier choice will seriously deviate from its rated power under similar conditions.

Well I installed HD1200 and I can't say I'm very happy with it. Moved the Treo to 4ohm load retuned the amp per JL guide in book which was the same as how I tuned the Crossfire. It sounds ok but doesn't have the same solid thump as the Crossfire did when it worked. I guess I'll go get a Treo amp????
I added a pic of tuning on amp incase I missed an adjustment???
HD 1200/1 for sale with 15 mins run time on it. Make me an offer.

Then there is definitely something missing in the execution or elsewhere in the system.
Perhaps you could give your JL Audio dealer a shot at tuning the sub.
Why 80 Hz? Why a 24 dB slope? Sealed or ported enclosure? Set amplifier gain with speakers disconnected?
Comparing it to another amplifier/sub combination that worked for one outing?
