    Audio issue

Maybe someone that is audio inclined could offer some advice…

I recently purchased a 2011 SANTE and while garage boating I noticed that whenever the head unit (I think that’s what it’s called – I call it a stereo) is powered on, static can be heard through the speakers. Could this simply be that the settings are incorrect on the amps or head unit? And if so does anyone know what the factory settings were? Components include a Clarion head unit, a Polk Audio PA500.4 amp, a Polk Audio PA250.2 amp, Rockford tower speakers, and Polk Audio interior speakers. All of which I believe are factory original. Is the static consistent through other modes like USB, CD, SAT or AUX?

MLA, yes it is consistent through all the modes to include USB, CD, SAT, AUX, and radio.

I would guess that ground issues or low power issue. Odds are all speakers are running from an amp.

One easy test... turn on the system, and get a rca to 3.5 plug, plug the 3.5 into your phone, and test each rca input on the amps.

Anyone ever heard of cutting the stereo ground at fuse panel? I seem to recall a conversation a long time ago specific to nautiques about cutting a ground on the driver's side fixing someone's noise... Im not a stereohead fyi

That would mean.... that the ground is lacking at dash with all the extas. The easy fix is to pull the ground from head until and add a new wire to battery...

I would wager that the bow speaker are driven off the head-unit. if they have static same as the rest of the system, then its generated by the head-unit and not likely a ground loop issue.

Appreciate all the comments. I've located an expert and will have him take a look and report back. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

interested to see what you find. i have the exact same issue with mine but they are xm9's on the tower. It sounds like just the tower speakers doing it in mine(they run off a seperate amp) but will have to get closer to the other speakers to see if there is any noise there too.

Chopp following your response I had to check - the static is primarily coming from my tower speakers however there is static coming from every speaker. I'll let you know what I find.

ok let me know. I too double checked it out in the garage and found the same thing.Mostly coming from tower speakers but there is still some coming from the other speakers. It was also noticeable quieter static with the engine off compared to out on the water when the engines running.

Free48. How did you make out with the noise issue. My 2014 210 has the same problem.

Thanks for asking frankie. I decided to forget about it for the summer and take it to a professional in the off season. To be continued...
