I wanted to ask why I dont see people installing the Wetsounds 420? My guess is its because Linc 2.0 has zone control? My second question is will the JL M770s fit behind the speaker covers? I recently discovered that the G's have the JL M650s
To your first question, im not sure why you are not seeing the 420's that are being installed.
To the 2nd questions, The 7.7 will not fit in the recessed area. You will need to fabricate a custom mount to five you the space required to mount the nearly 8" 7.7. At that point, the OEM grill is unusable.
I strongly considered a 420, but instead went with the Roswell dual zone volume control. I have had 420 on my 3 prior boats, so I am well aware of how great one is.
I beleive that it needs to be on the passenger side so that others can dink around with the stereo while I focus on not running people over at the lake. With that in mind, there is not a good and clean location for it. It will fit Ok under the dash, but just OK IMHO. It would have been terrific if they made that retarded plastic chrome piece about 1 inch wider so that I could have put the 420 in the dash in the same location where I have my Roswell volume control.
The 420 is just a tad bit wide to make a clean install in the location you see here: I lost the picture after I installed the control knob.
I have in box sitting on shelf waiting to install. Just don't know the location. Love the idea of passenger side. Others can use mic to chat with riders and control volume. I seem to have enough to worry about driving
The cleanest 420 install on a G I've ever seen is on Mikes Liquid Audio FB page, scroll down for another pic a couple weeks ago.
