    Anyone ever use Aqualights?

Looks like an independent guy not a big corporation and they were really cool on phone when I called asking questions about lights. I just don't understand how they can be rated at 5000 lumens and only draw 1.25 amps???? Seablaze are rated @ 2.7 amps and are only 1700 lumens? Im not real sharp on this stuff but I cant see how they could be that much more efficient.

Also winder about colors.......... Are white lights blinding if you were night surfing?? Seems like blues would be better for that purpose????

There is no governing body or industry standard, so companies can measure lumens how they want, with what they want, or just plan make up numbers. No way to use lumens to compare one brand to another.

That may be true that some manufacturer's don't test or certify their lights, but there are in fact industry standards to test and certify a lights output to. I am a representative for Liquid Lumens and we certify all of our lights to the NVLAP standards, so you know that the numbers we are sharing are the real deal.

I would encourage you to do some research for yourself Neverenough and look at all of the options. One thing to keep in mind is that Lumens are only one measurement of light and only represent total light output from the source. But Lumens don't tell you everything you need to know about an underwater light, you also need to consider Candela.

Think of a 500 lumen flashlight. You can point the beam in the direction you want to see and light up distant objects very effectively. If you were to remove the reflective head and expose the bulb though, light scatters in every direction but would not light a distant object nearly as well as before. Even though you still have the same 500 lumen output you started with.

Lumens are total light output, while Candela measures how much light is delivered to a specific point away from the light source. This is why Liquid Lumens uses patent pending Lumen-Boost Technology unique to the industry, that allows us to use higher source lumens and also to focus the light in the direction of use. That means much more light arriving at the point of use behind your boat.

Hope this bit of information helps, and good luck with your new lights!

Night surfing? Wow, I'm pretty sure that is illegal where we boat. Sweet tho . . .

(sorry, not an answer, just in awe)

We are on a private lake and surf at night... It's awesome! Light glowsticks attached to the life jackets of each rider, Underwater LED's in a custom made bar that bolts to the platform brackets.
