Interference in rear speakers when engine is running

Trouble shooting a tower speaker issue and finding out my wife had turned the amp dial all the way down causing it to shut off all power to the speakers I have since developed a new issue. When my engine is running I get a lot of white noise (whistling) into my back cabin speakers only. I isolated it to the speaker wire causing it by unplugging rca plugs from the back of the stereo. Do I perhaps have a wear in wire coating or is this typically something different? Hasn't done it before now.

I had a similar problem with engine noise in all speaker... really boring...
