    New G23 speaker noise

Hi, I'm a current 3x Malibu owner considering the switch to a new 2017 G23. On the demo, there was a lot of unwanted noise coming from the sound system. I believe that the rep said it was due to RF interference and needed to be adjusted. Is this an easy fix or possibly an issue that could be hard to solve?

By the way, here's a pic of the boat we demoed. Loved this color scheme!

"I believe that the rep said it was due to RF interference and needed to be adjusted."

What was the source of the RF and where it the RF adjuster to adjust? Whos the dealer?

Good questions, I'm not sure and I certainly could have a poor memory of the explanation. Just curious if speaker interference noise is a common issue on Nautiques. The dealer is Hall Marine in Greenville, SC.

The RF adjuster is in the engine compartment next to the flux capacitor. You may need a left handed widget wrench to get to it.

It is a problem, but fixable with some decent rerouting of the grounding.

Look through other posts on this site.....fairly common issue that nautique REALLY needs to pay attention to at the factory! Has happened for multiple years/models.....

Yep. Its still on my 2016 G21. I (try) to listen to music using my iphone and through bluetooth . When its connected and working, there is a lot of background noise.

Still no idea why they haven't ditched the garbage Polk HU. First thing I did was swapped HU to fusion, and it has been flawless, and has absolutely zero noise interference.

Thanks for the replies, it seemed like it was something fairly common. So no real fix for it other than replacing the head unit?

I have some noises when the sound is mute and the noise does not go away when the volume is at 1, 2 or 3. Above the music covers the noise completely. G21 2016.

I already read stories stating that what comes from the factory is garbage. However, the only stories I read with successful output come from people that bring their boats to a stereo shop and get a full blown upgrade system. So, I am interested in hearing more from a quick a easy fix such as changing the head unit.

Did the fusion work with the link system?
Which model of fusion did you take and how did you replace the Polk factory one? Just take the polk off, unplug the wires, plug the wire to the Fusion and put the fusion back?

                        Thanks

Before you go and replace the HU have a professional shop check all the grounds. That was the source of my hiss issues.

Do you have the studio elite system with zone control? If so, a lot of the low volume noise is coming from the zone control unit itself. They did do a revised one, but it didn't solve mine completely. I was also having a lot of trouble with LINC control of the HU.

Some rerouting of grounds will help the hiss/buzz noises, but will not get rid of the clicking and clacking noises from the zone control.

The fusion HU does not integrate with LINC. I installed a helm remote. Some might not like this, however, I always hated having to use the LINC to control the stereo anyway. It is WAY easier and faster to just have a seperate remote.

I did a Fusion AV750. I made an adapter plate for the different shape head unit. Removed Polk HU and Zone control, rerouted RCA cables, depinned the Polk plug in and repinned into a new connector for the Fusion unit. I then ran the NMEA 2000 cables to the helm and transom, and installed the remotes.

Noise free, no bugs/glitches, better BT reception and sound quality, and much easier operation. By far the best upgrade I did on this boat.

                              Thanks Wayward,

I have the basic audio system with no zone control as far as I know. I like the Link control of the HU . Easy to turn on and off the audio. Looks like I will ask my dealer to check for the noise issue as I do not have issue with clicking and clacking noise.
