    cd player cutting out

i have a 1994 nautique and just installed a kenwood cd player.
removed stock clarion tape player. when you turn the volume up past 22-24 on the cd player it cuts out. does it with radio or cds and with ignition turned on.........its a 45x4? is it cutting out because the factory wiring is too small? any help would be great!

My Clarion XMD1 does that when the battery is getting low. That might be the issue.

May be your amp. I just had to replace my old amp as it was clipping above a low medium volume. Went with the new Alpine 4.150. Unbelieveable sound. Worth the extra $$

probably doesn't have an amp or forgot to include that info, i'm guessing no amp.
          I don\'t care.

It's more than likely one of 2 reasons. The most likely is that you are just over driving the amp. It's then hitting the protect and shutting it self off momentairly. The solution is put an aftermarket amp (external, not the one in the deck) (if there isn't one already) to drive the speakers.

The second possibility is as jroyal said, the battery is getting low. Usually just a cd player and speakers won't drain the battery, at least not for a long time, without a subwoofer and amp which I'm assuming you don't have because you didn't mention it. Or I guess if the battery was almost dead you could have that problem, but you'd know then what the problem was b/c it wouldn't start the boat.

I'd lean towards you're just overdriving the internal amp. If you plan on getting a sub(s), you'll need an amp to power it, you can run your normal speakers through it, just watch your settings so you don't blow the speakers.

sorry guys, indeed i have no amp.stock everything. i know its not the battery because its brand new and cranks the boat over fine....i have had subs amps etc when i was younger and have never seen this before.........kinda sucks, i was thinking of running new poer and ground wires, maybe like 10 gauge to see if that helps, buts thats a lot of work

I think you're over driving the internal amp. You know, the one that supplies 45 watts per channel. You could try the wires, but the stock wireing harness should more than facilitate the current capacity.

I had this problem, but fixed it by retracing my speaker wires that run to the tower. (I disconnect the speakers when the boat is in storage) turns out I had the one side reversed (-to+) once I switched the wires, everythin worked great. My neighbors can witness to that, I had Godsmack going at +35 I think you could hear it two blocks over!!! anyway, I don't know much about stereos and amps, but that is what worked for me.

to clarify, I have 4 speakers on my tower, two on the left had +to+ two on the right had +to- onec I changed the +to- to +to+ everything worked OK

I had the same problem after installing a CD player in mine, what I did to fix it was hard wired it to the battery and installed my own switch, rather than run it threw the ignition switch in the dash.. It would start turning up imediatly after that.
