G23 Stereo System

After reading a few threads discussing the cost of Nautique's premium stereo I have started to consider other options. Instead of paying the aprox $10K price tag, I could have the same JL Audio stereo installed by a local dealer at a fraction of the cost or an even better system for the same money. So....Does anyone know if a boat can be ordered without a system? I'm guessing you would have to at very least pay for a head unit and standard speakers in the in the boat excluding the tower speaker. Also would the transom remote still operate ok with an aftermarket JL audio system? Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

What I did was to order the base system and build it up from there. I think the interface with the touch screen was worth preserving.

I then changed out the amplifiers and added my own tower speakers. I really liked the JL amp for the interiors and kept that, but moved more power to the sub. The stock sub with more power is a little beast. I sort of like doing that work myself, so it was something I always knew I would do. In the off season, I will be adding another sub, a vent for the subwoofer compartment and probably some LED's. If you aren't into DIY, then order the base system and take it to your local stereo shop.

My next option would have been to make it completely separate with a Wetsounds EQ and a separate switch to turn it all on and off with. Either way, you can build a superior system and come out money ahead. But I think the stock system is included in the base price, so you may not get any credit for a stereo delete.

Yep, you have to order the base system. That's basically a head unit, an amp, and interior speakers. I just did this on my '17 G23, and everything except the head unit is being ripped out next week by the guys at Roswell when they install their equipment in the boat.

So do you have the wavefront feature and the zone control? and is the basic head unit a touch screen?

If you order the base system, you don't get Wavefront or Zone Control.

There is only one head unit that Nautique uses, and it is not touch screen. That being said, most functions can be accessed through the LINC System, which is touchscreen.

I agree a much better system can be installed at half the cost of the studio elite. That's what I plan on doing (2017 on order).

If you just order the base system without tower speakers, does Nautique still run speaker wire to the tower?

I believe they do. I believe all towers are installed pre-wired for any accessory that Nautique could install there including speakers and lights.
