Speaker pop at startup on 2017 G23

We get a loud boom when hitting the start button on our new G. If the stereo is off, it doesn't happen, but it's a pretty startling sound when it does and we leave the stereo on most of the time.

The salesperson said at delivery that this is a normal nuance of the boat. Any way to fix it?

We also have a hissing noise coming from all speakers at all volumes. I've asked them to fix this, but I'm wondering if the issues are related?

And the stereo issues continue.....tons of threads on here about unwanted stereo sounds....I'll sum all of them up, typically it is a grounding issue, typically your dealer cant fix it ("normal nuance" really in a 150k boat?!), and typically you have to pay extra to take it to a legit stereo/audio shop for them to go over the system and fix what nautique cant seem to do for YEARS! Sad but true, unless anyone else has thoughts.

Maybe Jeff can comment/help to understand why nautique has such an issue with this. Roswell is basically ripping out the stock system and putting in everything in the PN boat, but most owners will not be doing this from the start. So why is it that us owners spend a TON of cash for the EXCELLENT boats then get completely let down with terrible audio systems that dont function correctly from day one!!!! Sorry, this is the ONLY thing that really gets me upset about my boat (and I am not the only one). I'll stop the rant but anyone else feel free to add.

Instead of just griping about this, we should start collating a list of problems and solutions. There has to be a way to make it all work. If it's a grounding issue, then it most certainly CAN be fixed. Most likely it's various components grounded in different points creating a ground-loop.

I totally agree with guntersville! Nautique should definitely have a handle on this by now! A normal nuance ? Really ?? Someone please explain why nautique engineers can't get this corrected? Should not have to rip the stereo out of a brand new 150k boat! The stereo should be on point and extremely clear.

Most likely need to add a relay in line with all the amps firing up to prevent the surge for the loud click. Unfortunately I am not familiar wit the17 wiring to help you out

After I pushed the issue a bit, the dealer is saying that there is a software update to fix this issue. Something to do with the LINC system "forgetting" the previous volume setting? I am also getting a hissing sound from the speakers that they claim the software update will also fix. We'll see!

Used it and they picked it up, they told me it was fixed so I tried again but nope so back in the shop it went. I've owned the 2017 G23 for about a month and a half and its been in the shop for the entire time. Now they're saying its a problem they're having on ALL 2017's and they cant figure out what's the problem. How's your surf system working?

Now they're saying its a problem they're having on ALL 2017's and they cant figure out what's the problem. How's your surf system working?

So we broke the 10 hour mark on the first weekend and had no serious problems surfing, but we did have an issue with "ballast short" fault codes appearing. Basically, when I'd choose the Surf preset, the system would throw fault codes on up to all three ballast pumps. Each time we turned the ballast pumps on and off, I had to go into the settings and clear the fault codes once or twice to get the pumps to work.

In addition to the speaker "pop" issue, I also have an issue with the speakers making a hissing noise that can be clearly heard at low volumes. Apparently the software fix addresses both speaker issues and the ballast pump short fault codes.

I also kept getting engine knock sensor faults. I believe they planned to replace the knock sensors to fix this?

The dealer, Hall Marine in Greenville, SC, has been totally on the ball with working to address the issues, so I'm thankful to have a good dealer working on them. I'll update once the repairs are complete and we have a chance to test everything out. Hope they get you back surfing asap!

I can tell you one thing....... No software flash of the LINC is going to fix the stereo hiss.

I had all kinds of noise issues on my 2016. I ran a direct ground from head unit all the way to the battery, and changed my head unit to a fusion 750. The new ground helped with some of the noise issues, but not all. The fusion head unit fixed it entirely. Downside to the fusion unit, is that you can't control through LINC. I added a helm remote, and actually consider it a bonus that I don't have to use LINC to control stereo.

My 17 will be here soon, and I already plan to rip the POS Jensen head unit out, and install a fusion 750 again.

They design and build boats not audio systems, and have a tendency to ignore the input of the actual audio manufacturers. This is not unique to correctcraft but also not a problem with all biat builders.

No kidding!!

On my 2016, they did run the main amp grounds direct to the battery post. But not the head unit. The head unit was grounded to a bus bar with a million other accessory grounds.
