Was wondering if anyone has put in a stinger isolator SR200 specifically or SR80 ( i think ), was wondering... how the starter fit into the equation with the ignition wire.
I use the SR200... I tied it into the Ignition switch so when I turn the key over it closes the circuit and allows the battery to charge while the boat is running. you can hear the relay close/open when you turn the key. Hope this helps!
Im glad i stumbled across this topic. I too am going to be installing an isolator and have the same question as itrynwake. The 04 team does not have a keyed ignition. How wouyld you connect this to the push bottom starting system. I too have an 04 but mine is an LE with the push start.
I'm in the process of installing an SR200, and was going to use as the true ignition source the yellow/red wire that runs to the starter. If you look in your manual, in the engine maintenance chapter, you will find a listing of the wire colors and what they represent. On a 2001 Air, which is our boat, the manual shows the yellow/red as the ignition start wire. Check your manual and it should give you some guidance.
The isolators result in a voltage drop to your amplifiers so we stopped using them. Relays work pretty well but they have a few issues as well. Now we are using the Yandina/West Marine combiners. If you are running a dedicated battery bank for stereo and accessories these work well without the need for other switching devices.
