    G23 Tower Speakers

Hey all - just about to finalize order on a new G23!

I am pretty confident about everything except for tower speakers - I am coming from Malibu and have always gotten 4 speakers (Exile surf 9") because the mounting made head clearance no issue. I am 5'10" and never worry about bonking my head since the speakers on Malibu are more on the sides.

With Nautique the speakers are straight across the top of the tower, so I worry about head clearance for the center 2 speakers. Because of this I was only going to order 2 speakers. Any opinions on this? Coming from 4x 9" speakers and going to 2x 8" on such a big boat I feel looks a little anemic, I am sure they will sound just fine.

I would consider 2x Rev 10" but I really don't like the look of the grills on them.

Clearance for four factory speakers is good in my 210. At least equal to my buddy's 2012 Malibu.

Has anyone mix and matched 8.8 and 7.7 speakers to give more clearance in the center? Not sure how much an inch would really matter?

Coming from 4x 9" speakers and going to 2x 8"
Ill start by clearing up some misinformation. The exile speaker is an 8" just like the Wet Sounds icon-8, JL 8.8., Kicker KM8, rockford M282, roswell has an 8". Bazooka has an 8". Powerbass has an 8, Memphis as well. Sure there will be differences in their physical specs, but at the end of the day, they are in the 8" speaker class. The "9" designation is used for one reason.

Yes, there will be a difference in going from 2 pair of 8" coaxials to a single pair of 8" coaxials. So, add a 2nd pair and you will be right where you where. Also worth noting that the JL 8.8 tower pod is just about an inch less in hang height as compared to the 8" exile.

I would consider 2x Rev 10" but I really don't like the look of the grills on them.
Wouldnt it be cool if a new grill design was coming.................

It's worth considering going with 2 because of the issue you mentioned. I went with four and we constantly have folks hitting their heads, including me.

You can always pull the stainless face plates off the Rev10's so the grills blend in. They're just kind of glued on.
