    LINC and Clarion M606

I've seen a few threads speculating whether the Clarion M606 would be compatible with the LINC system. The M606 has bluetooth and Pandora functionality built into it and its the same dimensions as the CMD7 so it fits perfectly in the stock location/cutout.

I just had my dealer (Buxton) swap out my Clarion CMD7 for the new Clarion M606 and I'm happy to report the unit interfaces with the LINC system in my 2013 G and I can control everything through the LINC. For those that have a 2013 LINC and want a factory like Bluetooth implementation this is a real option. It even has a screen on the LINC for Pandora although I haven't had a chance to play with that and see what it will do.

I've got a 2012 230 that i just had an amp added and other stereo work and this is my next option. I wanted a fusion umd750 so I can get rid of the wetsound eq. Does the m606 have zone control?

I can't use the fusion as it's not compatible with linc, sucks

Got a fusion head unit in my older 210. By far the best upgrade for pre linc boats. Never thought I'd enjoy Bluetooth and zone control this much. I've got the 650. And fit the old clarion hole great with their clarion adaptor plate.

The M606 does have zone control according to the manual. 3 zones if I remember correctly. I asked my dealer to wire it up with the towers as one zone and the in boats as a second zone. When I picked it up I asked how it worked and how to control the zones. The guy installed it said to use the fade control....SO I don't think it was really wired up using the zones. I think they wire the fronts to the tower and the rears to the in boats so technically you could cheat the fade to the towers (or vice versa) if you wanted. I was in a hurry when I picked it up so I didn't mess with it much. Basically I confirmed that Bluetooth and Pandora worked with LINC but didn't mess with the zones or fade. Regardless I don't expect zones to integrate with LINC if thats what you are looking for. I am going to be at our lake house in 2 weeks and plan to mess with it then and see how the zoning/fade works. I can report back then.

Just something I noted when I water tested our 2015 SAN 210 that has the factory head unit. I saw this in a youtube video and tried it. The fade option in the LINC system is also set up to fade between the in-boat speakers and the tower speakers. That is exactly what I wanted with my old boat so I was happy to see it. Only downside was when I actually did it the volume setting froze...lol. (Our boat has the stereo upgrade with bow speakers and sub-woofer but I don't think that matters).

Do you have any pictures of how the swap turned out? Did it fit the same cut-out? Seems like they might be different sizes. I want to add bluetooth to mine (2013 g23) and this looks like a solid option to maintain the LINC functionality.

Just add a universal BT like the Roswell cybox, or Wet Sounds BTVC or BTRS and keep your head unit.

I think this works out well if I grab the EQ as well so we can adjust tower vs in-boat volume. Thought if it can be handled entirely from a single device it would be a cleaner setup.

The WS-420BT or WS-220BT would solve both the blue tooth and zone control

The M606 fit the spot perfectly. To my knowledge no modification at all was needed. The measurements for the M606 were the same as the CMD7. Before I bought it I found the following specs copy and pasted below from Crutchfield. I didn't install it but my expectation is that it was a quick swap and probably didn't even replace the wiring harness. Just plug the old wiring harness into the new unit. Not that a WS-420/220 wouldn't do the same thing but it should be a quicker and easier swap. Plus its only $225 on many websites. I may eventually add a ws220 for the microphone but for now I like the way it integrates with the LINC. You can skip songs etc. Plus you get Pandora on linc through the headunit.

You may need your dealer to flash your linc or configure it to start working. Then again it may plug in and light right up. I had my dealer install so I am not sure what had to be done to linc

If you do that you will loose functionality of the wired remotes i.e. Skipping of tracks.

I had the M606 installed when the boat was getting winterized. I fired it up and played with it on the Linc screen for about 10 minutes. I didn't try the transom remote but according to Clarion's website, its compatible. Product description says the following:

                              Marine Wired Remote Compatible (MW1/MW2/MW3/MW4/MF2)

IIRC, the 2013 Gs had the MW1 at the transom. I am assuming it all works. I can check it out in a couple of weeks when I am back out at our lakehouse but I can't imagine it wouldn't be compatible.
