I wanted to have a pretty straight forward replacement of my XDM1 that was stock in my 2003 SANTE and maintain ability to use my remote next to the steering wheel.
I bought a Clarion M606 (no CD player), https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020M60...c&awug=9014125
I also bought a converter to go from the older model to 8 pin.
This radio looks good once it's installed but the holes do not line up. You will have to come up with some sort of bracket to match the new holes with the old ones. I used a small piece of HDPE 1"x 2" and screwed it in on both sides. I'm sure there's a better method but I didn't have any nuts and bolts or the strips of metal with the holes in it that people use (no idea what that's called).
The remote on the dash will change the songs on my phone in amazon music and iTunes with the phone sitting in the compartment with the headunit. The sound quality is incredible compared to before with the same speakers. I'm assuming that has to do with the high pass and low pass for each of the three zones (in boat, tower, and sub)
If you aren't a gear head and are slightly mechanically inclined you can do this. Just make sure you turn the batteries off before you get started. The remote does not have all functions but the volume Is there and the ability to mute or change songs. What else do you need?
Hope this helps someone
