    211 rear jump seat sub

I just finished (almost finished) my under-seat sub for my 211's rear jump seat. After spending last summer watching people step on the end of the "ironing board" I felt that at any second it would just break off, so I decided to enclose the bottom of the seat. While I was at it I figured I would use the somewhat wasted space as a subwoofer. I also wanted to make the box as light as possible so it would not be impossible to handle nor diminish the slalom to a too much. I decided on a slightly different approach using four 6.5" ultra long throw subwoofers. I had seen these subs about a year ago and have wanted to put them in something so I figured I would give it a shot. The four 6.5" subs have about 25% more effective piston area than a single round 12" so that also helped my decision. I have not had it out on the water yet but I tossed in the back seat of my convertible and took a ride down the highway. It seems to be quite impressive so far.

    Check it out...

It's roughly based on "The Boogieman" sub-box project featured at Parts Express. With my limitations the sub is roughly tuned to 60hz but the boomy bass sounds good in boats with R&B or rock & roll that most of us listen too in our boats. The downfiring subs also do a nice job of getting some bass waves bouncing off the flooor.

Hey Mikeski ... that looks great,

Did you add another amp to power the sub ??
or did you replace or add to the regular sub under the front seat ?

hmmm ... looks like something else to try before summer.

My boat is an SE. The blank panel at the driver's footwell was removed and replaced with a single 12" sub at the beginning of last summer. It sounded good until I met Grant... Now it has both.

                The system:
                Headunit - Clarion XMD3
                Pre-amp - Soundstream parametric eq/pre-amp
                Boat amp - Avionixx 125w x 4
Tower amp - Avionixx 500w x 2 (same amp different config.)
                Sub amp - HiFonics BX1500D
six Polk MMC650s in the boat
one Alpine Type R 12" sub at the driver's footwell
four TB 6.5" woofers under the rear seat
two WetSounds Pro485s on the tower
                two golf cart batteries
plus lots of other little custom goodies like my ignition panel with stereo switch and digital voltage display for the GC batts

I guess you could say I added another amp?

Wow ... thanks for the info ... No doubt it sounds great

definately provides better insight to what is required, I haven't played around in the mobile stereo game for awhile.

I remember some of your comments to a post I had up on wakeworld last fall. We finally got our 05 211 in the water last week. Still smiling.
