    7.7 JL-M Audio tower speakers on 2017 G23 - fade control issue

I have a 2017 G23 with a set of 7.7 JL - M Audio tower speakers. I do not have the top of the line audio system that is an available option on the 2017 G23. Im trying to figuire out whether there is a fade control for the tower only speakers because in order for the wakeboarder being pulled behind the boat to hear the music from the tower speakers, I have to turn the audio volume very high hence blowing away the folks in the boat in order for wakeboarder to hear the music. There is a fade control for front and rear speakers but no fade control for just the tower speakers. If anyone else has had this issue or knows what I may be missing please let me know.. The speaker prep kit I ordered on the boat is a JL- M Series Elite pre-wired 4 channel amplifier with only 2 tower speakers and not 4 tower speakers

This really belongs on the Stereo/Lighting/Electronics page but I'll answer it here. It sounds like your G23 is setup a bit different than my 230. The fader on my stereo fades between the tower speakers and everything else. Not really "front/back" but it works.

You have a couple of choices. You can redo the wiring setup so it fades like this or you can add in a Remote Level Control. It's this: https://www.amazon.com/JL-Audio-HD-R...eywords=hd-rlc

It plugs into the amp and you mount it somewhere convenient. It then serves as a way to turn down the level of whatever channels on the amp you have it configured to control. All of this explained in the JL Amplifier Manual here: http://mediacdn.jlaudio.com/media/mf...pdf?1305758648

      GML,

Something like Charles recommends is perfect. I have the Roswell volume control knob and think it is the best thing since sliced bread. If you want to have some subwoofer and EQ controls, then a Wetsounds 420 solves the same problem but is more elaborate. I am still mystified that the spot just above the driver's left knee was not made big enough for a unit like that. Here is what my knob looks like. I keep the volume on the head unit close to max, and then control it with the Roswell volume control knob. Or I put it in the middle, and use the speed related volume control, both methods work pretty good for me.

      https://roswellmarine.com/dualzonevo...rolfeature.php

I thought for sure I had a picture of it installed, but I don't. I put it right here:
For some reason, the site will not let me upload from URL.

Thanks to both of you for the info. I think I will try the remote level control as Charles suggests

Installed the RLC on mine a few weeks ago. One for the tower speaker amp and one for the interior amp. Very easy to do. I ran the wire around the bow to the driver's seat dash.

Note that OKWakebdr put one for tower and one for interior. That is wise, IMHO. You are still stuck with using the touchscreen for volume control of the interior if you do just a line level controller for the tower speakers. And you won't be able to turn down the interior and turn up the tower speakers, you would just have both on or only the interior on. I often turn up the tower speakers and turn down the interior. I can still have a conversation in the boat, and my rider still jams out.

So I would plan on 2 controllers, or the Roswell unit that has 2 controllers on the same knob. I just want to help you think it through all the way. With 2 controllers, you would have better control without having to toggle through the screen for volume controls, and full independent tower and interior controls.

my Boat is the same ......I fade louder to Tower speakers when we are Boarding so I don't blow the Boat out.
I might get the RLC JL remote knob...easy fix, but where to mount and look nice...

Polk sells a ZONE control module that require some additional work and harnesses...Also requires Dealer to turn on ZONE feature in your Touch Screen brain

This is what the STUDIO Elite adds as well.

Thanks Tallredrider. You have sold me on purchasing 2 RLC JL remote knobs vs 1 now that you explained it to me in detail. The tough part will be hiding the wiring and where to mount knobs so knobs dont look like an afterthought.

This is a pic from Jeff's old G23 with the roswell zone control....Mine is mounted somewhat where the sub control knob is in this picture (under the start button) but a little further back and flush with the under helm fiberglass. Just some ideas....

Yeah, except for me, it's usually turning down the interior because one of my kids fell asleep with their head next to the speaker.

Here's what it the Roswell knob looks like on the left hand side. Depending on your personnel and need for control, you may or may not want the knob within reach of anyone besides the driver. With my personality and crew, the left is a better option.

Is anyone else having a hard time with photobucket these days? I keep getting an error code that it is the wrong file type.
