He is my neighbor and I had him make it for me, and then he started making others and put them up on Ebay. I was just at his shop for him to make me some unrelated hardware and I saw some vents there. They looked unfinished, but at least he has some, so I know he is making progress.
Dumb thing is that I have had the vent laying in my garage for a year now and I have not gotten around to installing it! I have a number of projects to do, and it just seems I would rather go to the lake than work on the boat. And in the winter, I lost motivation to work on it.

3) after stereo update/upgrade/install I changed overall wiring to battery bank 2.... (see photo 2) grounded head unit to same post as amp grounds. REMOVED boat +/- from screw post and purchased $10 boat add post to wire directly to secondary post.....and tested all today....BOOM no noise!!!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!
Overall, this is a fairly simple rewire that is worth a try if you can get ANY improvement! Good luck and post back what you feel your results are!

I finally got around to looking at my batteries. Mine is configured differently. Here are some pics. Any suggestions or ideas where the engine noise is coming from?

I decided to look at all of my amps and I found the culprit. 1) gain for my speakers were to high so I set it lower however, when I turned the engine on, I still heard the hissing sound. 2) I checked the speaker wire connections and bingo! I only have 2 tower speakers and they were wired goofy. One was hooked up to the 1-2 channel with channel 1 left and channel 2 right, And the other one was hooked up to the channel 3 left and channel 4 right. So I put them as they should to channel 1 left and right, and channel 2 left and right.
Hope this helps someone troubleshoot.

This is called bridged. Its an acceptable and common configuration of making a 4 channel into a 2 chnl amp amp when driving only 2 speakers. It taps the amps f potential for more wattage as compared to running a 4 chnl amp in 4 chnl stereo.
Youve likely greatly reduced the available wattage for the speakers. Wired and tuned correctly 2 chnl bridge mode would not create noise any more than running the amp 4 chnl stereo.

Yes, bridging across two chnls delivers more wattage then speaker wired to single chnl.
No, bridging an amp should not inherently cause noise. Going from bridged 2 chnl to 4 chnl stereo and using only one half of the amp and the noise is reduced or gone, is note worthy though.

Hello MLA. My boat was already setup like that. Our next step is to run a dedicated ground from the amps to it's own terminal on the battery. Anything else that you suggest while we're at it? Thanks so much in advance.Last edited by Tallredrider; 09-24-2017, 02:08 PM.
