Nautique IPOD mini swims and lives!

The 2005 boat show promo was buy a boat and get an IPOD mini. I got the boat so my wife got the Ipod...

Somehow I managed to get her ipod in with a load of my clothes and it went through a complete wash cycle on Saturday. I just figured it was a complete loss. Not knowing what to do I even checked to see if there was a market for very clean Ipods on e-bay, there is not. But a quick search revealed stories of a couple Nano's going through the wash and living so I figured I would leave the completely non-responsive Ipod in a sunny window sill and give it a try in a few days. Much to my surprise this evening it fired right up after a system reset (hold off-on-off, menu+center depressed for 6+ seconds). It's been playing for over an hour now without missing one beat. I am psyched! I guess that means I get to keep the boat.

The true test will be time. I have had cell phones that have taken a swim and after they are dryed out they work fine and then a few week's later they start to F up

The key is to not turn it on until it completely dries out.

And most importantly make sure to completely dry the unit as soon as possible.
Using high pressure air is propably the best alternative but then you would need some access to the inside either through connectors for earplugs or similar or opening the unit.

If you leave it to dry by itself corrosion will propably start and the unit will die after a couple of months or more.
This all depends on the quality of the circuitboard and components.
Some devices can take excessive abuse and still works for many years.
Then others can't even handle high humidity environments.
