Official - 2018 Stereo is Backwards Compatible

I have had 0 problems with the linc or the polk head unit....and those that know my posts know that i would be honest....

i am not saying it is high or low quality...i have contemplated going directly from my phone to the amps to improve the quality a bit...i tested it and it would be better. and this can easily be accomplished by using a couple different options from wetsounds.

however, you would lose ability to use linc to change volume and the autovolume feature...so i am sticking with it as is...

When will there be more information on this upgrade? I have heard it was definitely going to happen, has anyone done it? More information please.

the MM100s has Hi voltage line outs so that may be a big plus over the polk.

the wiring and software update is not out yet i imagine.


you guys just need to buy the head unit and a remote. install it. take boat to dealer, have them update software and connect jumper to make mm100s talk to LINC, then you are good to go. the only reasons why you need wiring and software update is to have volume control on LINC screen.

It's more than that. From the LINC screen you can select the input for the H.U. Also balance, fade, bass, treble, etc. You can also turn the H.U. on and off from the LINC. If you have SiriusXM, you can change stations from the LINC. IDK how much of that will have to change for the new unit, but all of that needs to work.

LINC behaves really similar to a remote. there's a remote connection on the back of the head unit. JL makes Y splitters so you can connect more than one remote. None of that has to change to the new unit because the new unit contains all of that already.

I understand that, but the LINC is not a "universal" remote. It needs to be programmed to talk to the new H.U. They're different manufacturers, even.

Yep. And that's what we're waiting to see. Nautique said they were going to do it. Now it's a matter of if they'll really follow through on that.

They have a software update? The most recent updates for 2017 model year is 7/22/17 and 2016 model year is 10/12/16 - at least that I am able to find.

I'm not exactly sure. They are installing the JL head unit, bow speakers, amp, sub, and underwater lights. They are basically upgrading my stereo to the '18 upgraded model. they have to update the LINC for the underwater lights. They didn't say anything about not being able to update the LINC for the '18 JL unit.

There is another thread where the update has been successfully done.

There should be no update to the LINC for underwater lights. It's just an on/off toggle in the Dealer's menu.

picked up my boat from the dealer yesterday. new JL head unit, amp, sub, bow speakers. everything works they way it should. boat now has zone control from LINC
