    Bow Speakers Dead

I was a little upset this weekend when I noticed that both of my OEM polk bow speakers had broken grills. Those mounts for the tweeters are not a very good design for the exposed positioning of the speaker in the bow location. This was something noted during my water test that was going to be addressed but obviously it was missed, hence my disappointment. Anyways, while checking them out I noticed that neither speaker was actually producing any sound? That is new as they were working only a few weeks ago. Any ideas on how both speakers could go at the same time? Issue with the amp? From what I see on the amps, it looks like the bow speakers are wired in with the tower speakers? Thoughts?

I would try another speaker first and see if the amp is good. Then replace speakers if needed. If the amp is the issue check fuses first and then look for corroded wires. you may need info on how amps are wired in your situation to look further into your system. this is a good start.

Thanks for this. I can swap a set of speakers easily enough to test and find out if speaker or amp.

Ona 2015, the bow speakers may still be wired to the head unit, so check the fade setting. They would not be on a dedicated amp, so if not other speakers are out, then you have eliminated fuses and such.

When I fade on the LINC screen, the signal goes either to the tower speakers or the cockpit speakers. I never noted which fade setting the bow speakers were tied to and now that they're dead I don't know.

However, I never checked if using the fade on the head unit direct had any other effect...although no one has touched the head unit since receiving the boat so I don't expect there to be an issue there. I will double check tonight...it is 26C and sunny so we are riding tonight!!!

Tonight I found out that both bow speakers woofers are working, just dead tweeters. So I guess that answers everything. The broken grill faces likely severed the tweeter wire connection. Easy fix through the dealership.
