took the boat out yesterday and the cabin speakers wouldnt work. Checked the amp and it had the overheat protection light on turned red. This is with no use. Boat is a 15 230 with the Polk system. Any experince with this?

It's now time to pull out the multimeter and start measuring. Check the voltage across the amplifier primary terminals (not at the battery). You should have at least 12.0 volts. Check the resistance of each disconnected speaker wire leading away from the amplifier. Disconnect both inputs and outputs, leaving only the three power terminals connected. Power down for awhile and then power back up. Then see if the amplifier remains in the 'protect' mode with no inputs or outputs. If nothing of concern is revealed then it would be time for A) a bench check, and B) a peek inside looking for evidence of water damage.
