Watersports Innovations Boost Box - for Volume Control

I decided to try a Watersports Innovations Boost Box on my 2008 SANTE 230. My sister has a 2016 G23 and I love how the volume goes up and down when you are accelerating and decelerating. This boost box is designed to replicate that functionality. You basically install this "inline" between your remote mounted stereo control and the head unit. The device senses when the bow raises and increases the volume and then senses the bow drop and decreases the volume.

The installation was super simple. They give you the required plugs and everything is easy to get to.

Actual use was not great. It only works about 30 to 40% of the time. For $200 bucks, I expected something better than this. When it did worked, it was cool, but ...I suggest you spend your money on other ideas.

If anyone has used these and been more successful, I'd love to hear your feedback too - maybe I am doing something wrong.

I had when I had my boat and experience was very similar to yours. It was cool when I could get it to work but only worked half the time. After a while I didn't even mess with it anymore because it was so finicky.

I recently installed one as well and thus far my experience with it has been quite different. Initially I was worried about the mounting angle, so I fabricated a bracket to keep it at a small angle under my dash. Used it for a few full days of riding and it worked quite well. I haven't experienced the built-in volume controls in the new boats, but I had an HSE volume control in my previous boat that worked AWESOME. So well in fact, I didn't want to go without automatic volume control in my 08. Back to my Boost Box, it has worked very well up to this point. The one thing I don't believe it does quite as well as the HSE volume control is it doesn't back off the volume nearly as quickly as the HSE. The difference makes sense since the HSE immediately acts on a drop in RPMS, whereas the Boost Box must wait for the attitude of the boat to change.

I've since re-mounted it flush under my dash and it's at a larger angle, but still working very well. I'm using it in conjunction with Kicker zone controller and thus far I'm pleased with how it's been working. Mine is the Clarion model, if that makes any difference.

One thing we haven't done much of is move weight around a lot in the boat, which may make it act differently. Perhaps when it's not working it may just need re-programmed to a new boat "attitude"?

I don't know that I'm a huge advocate yet of my Boost Box, but I've been pleased with how it's working thus far. There are a number of older threads chronicling others' experiences with the Boost Box that have been pretty positive.

I installed the Boost Box last week and used it for the first time on Memorial Day. It worked great. It made the day so much more enjoyable not having to worry about changing the volume every set. I wish I would have invested in one sooner!
