Stereo upgrade for '10 SAN 210 - advice needed

Have a '10 SAN 210. Second owner. Boat has Clarion deck in glove box, Clarion round remote control on dash, 4 Polk 6.5" in-boat speakers. Thats it. No amps, no tower speakers. I want to go Roswell or Wet Sounds. Suggestions for specific speakers, amp(s), sub? I believe my tower (Roswell FCT3) is pre-wired. Can anyone verify? I'm a bit of a audio newb - is this a DIY or should I leave to the pros? Surf/wakeboard 60/40, so volume and clarity 80' back is important

Roswell for sure......... The tower is prewired for audio. Go with Cybox to get bluetooth control, DZVC to control volume between tower and in boat. Upgrade polk to R1's and do Neptune's on tower. Roswell can even custom paint your Neptune's or any other tower speaker to match your boat if that is important to you. It is a little more money but adds a nice touch to the boat. 5 channel amp for in boats and two channel for tower. A lot of this could be DIY but always leave the tuning to a professional!

I have a question about the Cybox. I have one on our 210 and every time I start the boat it disconnects from my phone so I have to reconnect to get music before I get under way.

          Cedarcreek,

This is not a cybox issue but a how its wired issue. This can be how the cybox is wired or how the head unit is wired.

          Hutch,

If you go with the neptunes and roswell amps, bridge them on the 4 chnl rather then going with the 2 chnl. Roswell is brick an mortar only and most are likely also installers. Which ever route you go, work with a knowledgeable retailer/installer that can help you design the lay out the system

Other options would be Wet Sounds. For about the same price range as the neptunes, you can get the larger 10" Rev-10. Larger speaker not only plays louder but delivers deeper mid-bass. Offered with fixed of swivel/disconnect clamping options as well as LEDs. The new Revo series in-boats are off the hook in terms of build features and sound quality. Worth looking for a shop to get a demo. Wet Sounds offers 3 amps series in different price and power ranges.

The closest Wet Sounds dealer suggested the following:

            - tower a pair of REV8's or REV10's
            - HTX-4 4-channel digital amplifier to run the tower (bridged-2ch. mode).
            - in-boats REVO6 6.5" speakers (2pr-4 total to replace interior existing)
            - single REV010-FAS4 10" subwoofer being ran off a HTX-6 6-channel digital amplifier
            - Fusion MS-RA70N with 2-zone control zone-1 interior zone-2 tower for independent volumes per zone

Wdyt? Components listed were quoted at $5k CAN before taxes and without installation (another 2k estimate). I have no idea if this is a fair price

Factor in the exchange rate and maybe a little added cost for getting the product to CAD, 5K sounds about right. As the labor. If the shop has a good rep, stands behind their work and answers your questions, then 2K for a quality install is not too much.

With that said, the HTX4 is perfect for the 8's. For the rev-10, I suggest spending a little more and go with the Syn-DX4.

Here in the US, there is only a $150 retail price difference between the Rev-8 and the Rev-10. If there is no hear or bimini clearance issues, go with the larger rev-10. I know it may stretch your budget, but its worth it.

Based on personal experience with customer service at both, I would choose Wetsounds. Just one guys opinion.

I assumed it was because they wired it to the amps and that's where it's getting power from so every time the boat is started the amp repower quickly and so do the Cybox which disconnect the audio source. Any different way to wire it so it does not do this?

Sounds like you have two hurdles to jump. Even if the cybox stays constant, the music will still be interrupted. Stop the amps cycling and you likely stop the cybox from doing the same.

I don't mind the music being interrupted, just annoying having to go to my phone settings and reconnect Bluetooth every time I start the boat. We stop the boat for riders to get in the boat so this happens a lot in a normal day out.

                        Regardless, both can be addressed.

Some good information here. Correct the Cybox should not cut out unless you have one of two things go on here 1. The Cybox is wired wrong and the ignition switch cycling is cutting off power to the cybox OR you have a charging/starting system draw or power issue. A weak battery, bad battery cable, poor ground connection or high starter draw could pull more power than it should causing a power loss large enough to loos audio power. Either can be corrected to solve this issue. The only shared wire for Cybox and the amplifier should be the remote wire for the Cybox to power on the amps when bluetooth is synced. They should not share power wires.

The Rev 10 is a larger speaker and like surfing there is no replacement for displacement however as you go larger and larger on your tower speaker you have to duck more and more in your boat to get below them. If someone built a 12" speaker it would be louder than the Rev 10 but at what point do we say WOAH that is load enough! LOL.... The Neptune's are an incredible sounding speaker, great styling, lighting and they way Roswell backs their product is enough for most buyers to say "yes please!"

Good luck on your decision and try to remember Roswell has Offices in both US and Canada and several other countries to support their worldwide customer base.
