    2002 SANTE Bluetooth upgrade

My new to me 2002 SANTE has a Clarion XMD3 with no aux line. Short of replacing it or messing around with cables I was thinking that there must be a way to get a bluetooth adapter. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions?

Been awhile since ive been at the back of an XMD3, but if my memory serves me correct, the head does have a rear RCA pair AUX in. Leads are red. if so, plug a universal blue tooth right up.

I've completely bypassed by Clarion, I no longer use CD's or listen to the radio. I'm now only use an old iPod and my iPhone for music through an EQ. Both my iPod and iPhone are directly connected to an external dual input equalizer mounted at the helm, my iPhone connects through an Exile Bluetooth module that is connected to the 2nd input on the EQ. About the only thing my head unit does is trigger the amps to turn on. I do have the head unit's RCAs, dangling under the dash, in case I do want to run a CD and then I just unplug one of the RCA's on the backside of the EQ. So, unless you're still using the radio and/or CD's, there really isn't need for the head unit.

MLA is right. Unit should have RCA inputs in the back with red coated wires and once you plug in an aux or Bluetooth adapter you should be able to select AUX as a source

So...turns out I have a XMD1. There are some unused RCA plugs on the back that we tried out with a y-adaptor but could not get the unit to pick up the Aux. Now I'm thinking the only option is to wire the Ipod direct to the amp.

If you mode through, you will see there is no AUX mode on the xmd1. The leads would be red, if it had AUX in. The other RCAs are likely gray and black, I think?

Why not just get a new head unit? There are a number of good units out with integrated BT. Do you have a helm remote?

Yeah. No Aux. I think you're right MLA, a new head would be cleanest.
