    Tower Speakers Muffled…

Can the Sun Kill Tower Voice Coils?
I know I have been "Over Driving them" all summer...

This past weekend I went out on the lake and found that the my Tower Speakers are having an issue. Something is causing the have Low Output.

I was working on testing the system the Distortions Meter, and found that the tower speakers sounded BAD…

Keep in mind these are 10 year old Polk 4s and 4 year old Kenwood ($89) speakers.

I tested the Output at the Amp by Flipping the Cabin Speakers and Tower Speakers at the output at the Amp. This showed that Amp was put out all the power that was needed.

The tower Speakers have NO Covers, No Shade, Total Open to the environment. I figured after 4 years of sitting in the Sun 24-7 from May to Nov…. they kicked the bucket… but I would have not guessed that they would sound like burnt voice coils.

    Set up...
Roswell BT - 9v Eq (BOSS... LOL) - JL 600/4 running 4 Polk 6.5 (cabin) and 2 4inch Polk 2 kenwood (tower) along with Kicker 300.1 running 1 DCV soundstream 12.

Sounds like the tweeters are blown. 10 year old speakers, who cares if the sun or you, did them in. Id replace with a single pair of 8", like the Kicker KM8 in some new pods. Retune the amp and roll on.
