Replacing all of the cabin and tower speakers currently. I know there are plenty of posts on this out there, but it is kind of half baked and not pictured anywhere. Those that have done it, did you have to cut actual vinyl out or just the mesh. I think I read you cut the vinyl ring out that is around the mesh? Also, there is the ring you mount the speaker to, can pull that out, cut, replace, and put the speaker in. How much do I need to cut that to make the speakers more flush? Again, some info but not a good true amount out there. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I can't remember who posted it but it may have been kylem (sp?) or blamey. I think it depends how you want it to look. If you want the speakers more "flush" then you have to remove all that stuff and cut out some of the padding and re-wrap vinyl and all that. It looks great but def more work. Otherwise you can just surface mount the speakers after removing the vinyl.

Hey there, I did this on my 95 super sport and it requires taking out the consideration moving pads, unscrewing the pvc ring from the back, popping out the ring which the mesh and vinyl piping was staples to, re-attaching new shallow rings to flush mount the speakers, pulling the vinyl over the new rings and stapling, then installing the speakers from the front. I had a few pics in my post but it wasn’t comprehensive. I’ll try and link to it. Your 03 May be different though so results may vary.

?? if you are replacing some the polk momo speakers that were there from the factory they should fit no problem in the bow. the speaker inserts on say like a 220(?) and a 230 are designed for true 6.5" speakers, which means some the wide flange 6.5" are bigger than factory. in these 3 speakers on my 230 i just busted out my air dremel tool and shaved down the speaker inserts on the bottom of the speaker until they fit flush. i'll see if i can find some pictures of this.
when it comes to placing the bigger speakers in the vinyl locations, you cut the foam baking for more room, leave the vinyl long so you can wrap it into the speaker hole.

Here is the post,
Picks a little further done as the post started off asking for help. I front monted two MM6501s as the can't be rear mounted (did not flush mount so the speakers stuck out a bit.
I rear mounted the DBs. I used a plastic spacer on that I got off Amazon as the speaker fit better when using the ring vs mounting directly to the coaming pad.
