I was able to get my GoPro4 working. Had to make sure the wifi was on on the camera and the bluetooth to my phone was turned off since it connects as well. Working pretty good so far.

Wait son of a bitch. I have a 2019 and was about to buy a GoPro. People are really having this hard of a time? Havent had a GoPro since my hero3 so this was a good excuse to upgrade.

Did you ever try the Hero7? Does it work?

I could never get the Hero 6 to work reliably with my 2018. I'm a computer engineer too... But the Hero 4 works very well with my new 2019. Auto connect, auto start / stop all work well. However if you power down the gopro and lose the wifi connection to the Linc for more than about 30 secs you have to power down the boat and restart linc to get it to reconnect. It is possible to power off the camera and change a battery without losing the connection if you do it fast (about 30 secs).

Also, using the preview mode to watch the video feed on the linc screen kills the battery in the gopro 4 in about 30 minutes. Otherwise the battery lasts about an hour in auto start / stop mode while surfing.

In reality the Hero 4 is a better camera for surfing than the Hero 6 which quickly fogs up on a sunny day anyway. I lost my Hero 6 when the rope snagged on it and it fell in about 65 feet of water ...

I have not tried the Hero 6/7 with the 2019.

I have a 2019 SAN 210 and was having issues connecting my GP Hero7 until I changed the WiFi on my Hero to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz and then it connected like a champ.

Hope this info can help someone else.
