01 SAN Under Seat Subwoofer Question

My captain's seat really needs to be elevated, especially for when we are at surf speeds with full ballast. I'm constantly kneeling on the seat to see over the dash. I also need to get a sub added to my sound system. Thought I could knock out two birds with one stone by making an enclosure that the captains seat could mount too.

Has anyone ever done or seen something like this? Or have any ideas to contribute?

I'm envisioning something that would look like this, but stronger with a marine sub.

That looks like a wooden box. I would not install any wood enclosure in a boat.

I did something similar, but not under the drivers seat. I'm sure it could be done with some creative engineering, but probably not worth the hassle. I wanted to free up more of the space in the observer storage area, so I relocated my subs from there to under the middle seat on the port side where the cooler was. Yes, I made it out of wood and covered with carpet as it was cheap and easy and I was not 100% sold that the sound or location would be great, so I didn't want to invest a lot of time or money into it. It actually turned out great and if the wood enclosure ever gets saturated, I will build a better box. Until then, I'll let it go as is.

I think most guys just put the sub under the dash. You probably already know, but there is a fiberglass mount for the captain seat that’s not level. It would be pretty tough to mount anything to it and a big job to remove it. You could probably put some spacers in to raise the seat. Click image for larger version

I have my sub tucked under the side right behind the drivers seat. Sounds great and doesn't get in the way at all. Click image for larger version
