I replaced all my main cabin speakers with Wet Sounds 6.5"s but left the original Polks MM651 in the bow area. This weekend I found a pair of MM651s that I had bought for my last boat but never used.
So I replaced the bow speakers with new ones and the difference was night and day.
I still have the original Polks in my tower speaker cans. They don't sound very good. Much like the bow speakers. I am starting to think that 10 years in the elements have left them a little tired.
I am trying to choose between replacing with new MMs or DBs from Polk.
I'm looking for something that sounds good for surfing and swimming off the back.
If this was a longer term strategy, then I would choose the MMs but since the cans are not in the best condition I plan on replacing the towers and amp in the next year or two.
So my questions are, are the MMs worth the extra $100? Are there other speakers I should be considering? Should I just forget about wasting the money and just upgrade sooner rather then later.
