Need some Audio system advice. Amplifier died

Howdy. Had to tear apart my boat trying to track down why i was lost in cabine speakers. Only the tower speakers were working. Unfortunately I bought the boat w/ the setup installed, so I knew nothing about it. I tracked it down to a bad amplifier it looks like. Can't get all 4 channels to consistently work. What's weird is that I was able to switch (not intentionally) which channel would not send signal. I could use some help with a replacement/replacements. Frankly i find the setup a little weird and not sure if i want to replicate it. I'm also budget and weight conscious however.

    Roswell 800.5 5.1 amplifier. Power: 75W x4 + 250W @ 4Ω / 100W x4 + 375W @ 2Ω (BROKEN)
X4 Clarion CM1620A 100w max 4ohm speakers. I think these might have been stock. Seen better days by the looks of it.
    Focal 245A4 10" sub. 4ohm. 200w rms
X2 Roswell Aquatone Pro HLCD speakers. 4ohm. 100w rms

I found that the 4 clarion speakers were wired up to two channels. I'm guessing it was probably in parallel to give run the 2 channels a 2ohms. The sub and tower speakers were ran off the remaining channels at 4ohms. What i don't like is that the boat speakers were only getting 50w and the towers were getting 75w. One, that's not much, and two it's uneven.

I also had no way to fade out the tower speakers b/c they split the signal off the receiver from the front input only and didn't use the rears.

Looking for advice on what amplifier/s to purchase. I'm tempted to say i'm just looking for another one a done, due to space and weight and not wanting to drive my alternator too hard. I understand it's not that large on the GT-40s. Also looking for recommendations on new cabin speakers and whether to run them free air or sealed. Right now they'red in a teeeny tiny sealed enclosure. THANKS!

There are a handful of 5 and 6 chnl amps that will be a nearly plug n play swap for your bad 5 chnl. Wet Sounds HTX6, Kicker KXMA800.5 would be my first go-to's. JL M700.5, M600.6 are a couple others. All are a great value in terms of quality, power and price. There are cheaper and they are more powerful, more expensive amp options.

Rowell deas have a new series of amps, one of which is a 6 chnl. I do not have experience with it yet, so this is not an endorsement for or against it.

With that said, If you want to stretch the budget and make some overall improvements at the same time, as noted you are not sure you want to replicate the current setup, and I agree.

An 8 chnl like the Kicker KXMA800.8 or JL m800.8 would give you the ability to bridge 2 chnls for each tower speaker for more wattage, 2 for the woofer bridged, and 2 remaining for the 4 in-boats. 2 amps like the Wet Sound HTX4 for the in-boats and woofer and HTX2 for the towers, would be perfect. Its a bump in wattage all the way around.

How about the WetSound HTX4 for both the towers and all 4 in-boats?
      1. 2 channels at 100w 4ohm for each tower
      2. 2 channels at 2 ohm at 75w for the 4 inboats in parallel

Buy a small mono amp for the subwoofer or 2 channel bridge. Not sure if this works out as being worth it over a 5 channel, but it's another option.

That would work, but it depends on what you are shooting for. if you just want get the hole system back playing tunes with nearly equal option, then a 5 or 6 gets it down without having to wire for a 2nd amp.

If you want to make an upgrade, the above option is going to be the same power wise to the tower and in-boats, as the HTX6 for $110 more. Figure a woofer amp and cabling will cost that, plus the time to wire that 2nd amp in.

Yup, that's a very good point. The curve ball is that I can find the HTX4 refurb from creativeaudio.net for $314. They're supposedly an authorized dealer and don't normally have a problem with refurb gear. At that price, maybe I should just grab two. I'm leaning towards the two amp setup (if the price is reasonable) just so if one goes, i'm not completely SOL. IE, all your eggs in one basket.
