    2016 SAN210 - sound randomly drops out

Randomly (every 10-15 mins?) the sound on the boat will go completely dead for 2-5 minutes. The interesting part is that i can see songs continue to progress on the headend and the dash display. I can change songs etc, but zero sound from any of the speakers.

I only have the factory installed components (and no tower speakers). Its a Polk PA D5000.5 amp etc.

does this seem like an amp issue??? If so, any recommendations for a replacement? Id like to considering adding tower speakers but my total budget would be about $1k, so I’d probably skip those for now if i could t get a minimally decent system.

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the amp is going into protect mode or cycling off due to low voltage.

Impossible to say without further troubleshooting. Is it all being driven by a single amp? If so, then it could be an amp issue but it's impossible to say. You may have to ghetto wire up an old speaker directly to the Headunit's speaker output and see if that one also quits at the same time. Is there any chance the amp is getting hot and going into thermal protection?

So... I bought a cheap fan at Home Depot that runs off a USB plug and a clamp. I clamped it on and pointed it at the amplified (and cut/re-spliced the wire into the glove box to plug into the USB Outlet), and we have now had much much fewer problems. I think it was just overheating and going into Protect mode. Thanks for the help.
