2014 G21 Stereo Upgrade

My G21 has the stock system and I would like to upgrade it without breaking the bank. I don’t need the loudest boat on the river, just want to have a nice setup that maximizes what I already have in the form of speakers.

- current setup is 6 Polk in boats, 2 Roswell 7.0 airbornes on tower and stock Polk 10in sub. All being run by 2 Polk amps (4000.4 and 5000.5 I think) and a Polk headunit.

I believe the tower speakers and sub are underpowered based on amp specs compared to speaker and sub specs. The in boats seem fine to me.

Can someone recommend how I upgrade the amp setup to maintain the speakers I have and get the most out of what already exists ? “Best bang for the buck” type setup ..?

- I plan to vent the storage compartment (maybe a Roswell vent) where the sub sits and I would also like to add some sort of dual zone volume control.

Thoughts on how best to properly power everything and get a nice upgrade without gutting everything and starting over ?

Lets start with the woofer. The polk 10" is not designed for a free-air/infinite-baffle application. A true IB woofer will perform better. I like the Wet Sounds Revo-10FA. You can upgrade the wattage, but its still the less then ideall woofer for the job. 2nd, you would have to double the wattage to make any real difference, and at that point, I think 400W is pushing it for that woofer. By changing the woofer, you kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Proper woofer for the job, and go with a 2 woofer and milk the amp of its available 400W rms.

For an even better upgrade, consider moving to a 2 ohm 12" IB woofer.

Tower speaker amp. If you like how they sound and just want them louder, then bridge the airborns on the D40004 and you will have ALL the wattage they will ever need.

The 5000.5 amp currently has 2 sets of leads coming off 2 of the channels. The other 3 channels only have 1 set of leads each and then the sub has a lead.

The 4000.4 has one set of leads per channel.

So I count 10 leads plus the sub makes 11. Why would there be 11 leads in a boat with 8 speakers and a sub (9 total speakers?) What am I missing here?

Correction - the 5000.5 has 2 channels with 2 sets of leads per channel and then 2 channels with one lead per channel, plus the sub for a total of 5 channels.

The tower is pre-wired for 4 speakers, so thats the wires in the other 2 chnls of the 40004

on the 50005, one speaker each on chnl 1 and 2. 2 speakers each on 3 and 4.
