2013 HU replacement

Any suggestions on a good head unit? Considering replacing my Clarion with something better(I hope). I continuously have problems with the volume maxing out and being unresponsive. I think I have narrowed it down to the head unit. I have isolated by disconnecting from link, installing new remote and new wire, and bypassing the splitter and connecting directly to the head unit. This problem tends to be fairly widespread, so curious about the cause.

The only thing I have not tried is having someone man the knob all day, which is not a reasonable solution so that is out as an option.

If you disconnect all remotes, which includes the LINK, by pulling the remote Y cable at the back of the head and the problem still continues, its the head. If the problem stops, its likely a remote (or LINK). Most likely the transom remote, as they are the most exposed to the elements.
