Ground Loop Elimination on Aux Input

I installed a M455 with aux inputs that I use for my Ipod. Most of the time I get no extra noise through the RCA's, but if the wires shift, or I move the ipod around, sometimes I get a high pitched whine through the speakers.

If I hook up the ipod to a charging unit for the cigarette lighter, I always get noise.

1.) I know I shouldn't have rca's next to power wires, but is there anything else I can check or do to diagnose and/or fix the problem? It's a '99 boat without a main "fuse/breaker box". It looks like some of the grounds, including the PP go directly to to the tach...the others go somwhere into the big mass of wires

2.) I can buy rca's with a ground loop isloator built in from Radio Shack...is a GLI a good fix or will it reduce sound quality?
