    Sound system for 2001 SAN

Hey guys, bought 2001 SAN late last season and the boat neither had speakers nor amp. Time has come to add some basic sound system, but I am not sure if I should buy 6" or 6.5" speakers, what do you think?

The rep from Crutchfield recommended to start with this setup. Thank in advance!

Hardly no one makes a 6" marine speaker these days, they are all classed as a 6.5", so that will be easy.

I clicked on the link, and it says cart is empty. So for once, I agree with crutchfield's recommendations

Are you looking to do just in-boats or towers and in-boats? What about a woofer? Even a mild 10" can make a huge difference in overall sound quality.

2 pair of in-boats at a min, but 3 pair is much better. Fills in the boat much better, especially while underway. a quality 5 or 6 chnl amp will powers these speakers and a woofer.

      Here is the link: https://www.crutchfield.com/cart/def...66279&emType=0

Looks like Crutchfield has both 6" and 6.5" marine speakers, so I am a bit confused there.

As far as the woofer, I am thinking of starting with 6 channel amp + 4 speakers + 2 tower speakers + receiver, then add another amp and woofer. What do you think?

Im on crutchfield's site right now. They list 59 6.5" marine speakers and do not even have 6" as an option to view by size. Looking through the listings, JBL shows one model to be described as 6" and Fusion shows a couple models. So yeah, hardly anyone makes a 6". Going with a 6.5" offers more options.

        Link still shows nothing

Depends on what you want/expect out of those tower speakers.

I do not know why Fusion calls it a 6", most everything about it, lines up with everyone else's 6.5". With that said, id pass on most any speaker with hybrid (PEI) tweeter in favor of one with a dome tweeter.

The Kicker KXMA400.4 will deliver a little more wattage all the way around, for less money, and its a better amp. Unless, you wired only 4 in-boats to two chnls, then bridged a pair of tower speakers to the other 4 chnls.

Id go ahead and order 2 of those receivers. You know, like they sell weekend saver prop kits.
