    2008 radio blowing fuse in amp

    Hi all,

    Last time I went out on the lake I lost all sound in my speakers and something is shorting one of my amps out. My subwoofer is working as it is connected to a separate amp but for some reason the other amp which drives all the speakers in my boat blows both 30 amp fuses. I changed them turned on the power and they immediately blow. Something is shorting it and I don’t know where to start. Any help is appreciated.

    So the breaker/fuse trips/blows as soon as replaced/reset or as soon as you turn the head on? Disconnect the B+ power cable and replace/reset. If the fuse/breaker remains intact, its likely internal of the amp.

      Thanks for this. What I did was turned the battery to off. Replaced the fuse, turned the battery of the boat back on and poof. Immediately blew the fuses.

      What do you mean by the B+ power cable ?

          Does the power need to be on to reset the amp, or should the power in the boat be completely off before I reset ? Not sure if amps reset properly with zero power.

            Without knowing the amp model, I cannot comment on any type of amp reset procedure. However, if you know the model, you can google and finds owners manual. It may describe and a reset procedure.

              Hi there. So I did some troubling shooting this weekend. No luck yet, but here is what I did. First of all there is no reset on the amp. It is a clarion xc6420. I ran out of fuses from them blowing but what I did was unplugged all the speakers and tried to put the fuses and they fried. This leaves me with 2 more options. Check the ground and the power. I am not sure how to do this with a volt meter. Anyone have any advice or links for me to check the ground and power ?

              Otherwise I guess the amp is fried. Before buying a new one I want to make sure that it is the amp obviously.
