    Speaker issue.

My 09 216v is having an issue with only the sub and the two speakers in the bow are working. Checked both amps and they are powered up with no blown fuses or loosing wiring. Going to see if I’m getting any output from the main (bigger?) amp today. Any advice on what to check or what output values should look like would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

Easiest is to swap RCA's into and out of the working amp to the non-working amp, trying to disconnect and connect speakers is a pain. You could have blown an amp channel, the whole amp, bad RCA, or RCA connection.

so i swapped the RCA cables and still only have the sub and bow speakers working. Both amps lite up and have no blown fuses or breakers. I'm starting to think i have a bad amp but is there any way to know for sure if the amp is bad?

OK so now you know its not the head unit that has dead channels or that the inputs on the amp are bad as that's all swapping inputs (RCAs) from the head unit to the amp is going to do. Now swap the speaker connections (wires) going from the output from the amp to the bow speakers with the cockpit speakers. If the bow speakers no longer work and the cockpit speakers do you have a couple bad channels in the amp or depending on how you're wired the entire amp is bad. If the symptom stays the same (bow speakers and sub still work but no cockpit speakers) then the amp is fine and something is wrong between the amp and the speakers. That is if you haven't somehow blown the speakers that are not working.

Before replacing anything you may want to get a multi meter and first check resistance on the speakers that are not working. The speakers should be rated at 4 or 8 ohms. Check to see first if you have continuity across the terminals, then switch to a lower range and see if you have 4 or 8 ohms of resistance. This will tell you if the voice coils have an open then if they are still in spec.

One thing that always helps me when trouble shooting these issues is to first draw all the connections out so I can easily reference how everything is wired. I'll also label the connections on the wires when possible so when trouble shooting I know I'm working with the connections I think I am.
