      I put mine in between the dash and the windshield on my 196. It stays there with a piece of velcro, very little wire showing (ran it under the dash), and you really can't even tell that I have an XM unit. It works great there.

          On top of the tower is the best spot. If you have kids they will manage to find a way to cover the antenna if it is in the boat.
