So just got the new 2020 G23 out on the water and while playing with all the features I realize I am getting close to nothing in regards to reception on the FM radio. I looked at the antenna and it appears to go to a stud which leads me to believe the actual antenna is fiber glassed into the boat. Knowing nothing else, I have to wonder why the reception is so horrible. I am picking up stations in my car perfectly and get nothing but static from the same station in the boat. I have checked all the connections and they appear to be intact. Has anyone else had this issue? I am considering making my own FM antenna out of some cable and installing it myself. Yes I know most people stream music or use XM radio, but I would like to think a simple FM antenna should be functional on a $175K boat. Thanks for any help.

That wire with the ring terminal, is the antenna. That stud is likely a windshield screw. FM is line of site, so having an antenna 3 feet off the water and no aerial mast like a car, can be a challenge to get reception in some areas.

Yep, I'm with Scott once again. Good luck with FM on the water. Now guess why so many people use Sirius and internet based entertainment. Sorry it's the age old technology's issue. BTW if you paid $250K you'd still have the same problem.....

I have experienced the same FM radio issues on my GS24. Does the radio receive HD stations? Is it possible to select the additional HD channel's that some stations have on the same dial number that show up on my truck as 1 or 2 or 3 (example: 101.5 with channel options 1-2-3)?
