1 pair vs 2 pair tower speakers for g23 build

Im almost to my last few days to make changes to my G23 order. Ive currently selected 1 pair tower speakers and am debating about upgrading to 2 pairs. I had a 2019 G23 with 1 pair which was great for surfing but i never could hear the music well at wakeboard distance. Just wondering if any of you that have had both noticed a difference in how far the speakers “throw”the sound.

I'm not sure how much this helps, but our dealer has a 2021 G23 with 2 pair of speakers. He turned on the radio on the showroom floor and it was INSANELY loud at less than half volume. The boat was inside so that may have made a difference. It sure seemed like overkill, but could be completely different on the water.

For wake range, Id suggest HLCD over conventional tweeters. 2 pair of 8" driven to their potential will be decent at wake range, but not as efficient as horn loaded compression drivers.

Great thing is that you don't need to make the decision now if you're feeling rushed. Since you have one pair already installed the tower is wired for both pairs. If you get the boat and don't think it is enough then buy a second pair and install them quite easily. With zone control being able to turn up the tower speakers I have never felt that 1 pair wasn't enough though.

How much money are you spending on that boat? Get two pairs. If anything it looks better

My last boat had 2 pair of Wet Sounds Pro 80's which I personally found to be overkill. They filled out the tower nicely but I don't think I really ever used them even close to their potential. With this latest boat I decided to go with a single pair of JL 8.8's on my tower and have found them to be plenty for surfing with the system running at moderate levels. For our part other than when we're surfing we don't even run our tower speakers. It just doesn't make sense for us to blast the lake if we're just sitting in the boat or standing around it at the sandbar.

So past actual performance I guess it all depends on what your goal is with the system. Nothing says top of the line surf ship better than a tower full of big expensive speakers so if the goal is image then the more the better. Like wise if you want to be the center of attention as the "sandbar DJ" but if this is the goal you'll need much more than the extra pair of tower speakers these days.

If you're looking to be safe certainly ordering it all now is the best path as you'll get everything integrated and tuned before delivery and everything will match. Nothing says just because you have the ability to blast the tunes you have to and you can always keep the stereo at moderate levels. I would also expect that doing the speakers now would be more cost effective than adding them later.

I would recommend going with 2 pairs of tower speakers. I had them on my 2013 230 and you can hear music clear as day wakeboarding. Definitely ordering it on my 2021 G23 as well.

Most definitely get two sets of tower speakers. I ordered one set and regretted it BIGTIME . A month later I order my 2nd set of tower speakers. Get two sets of tower speakers and don't look back. Easier to order now vs installing after your boat is delivered. My 2 cents

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). I finalized my order 8 days ago, and agonized over the same choice. My 230 had 1 pair, and I was never perfectly happy. At the last moment, I upgraded the G23 order to 2-pair. Congrats!
