I've got a 97 Ski with what looks like the original factory head unit. Nothing fancy, just a radio and CD player. When the boat is off the radio will work fine, but once the engine is started there is no sound coming out of the speakers. The radio still appears to be on, but no sound. Once the engine is switched off the radio comes back on. The CD player doesn't do this, it works just fine in all conditions. Also, the radios problem depends on the frequency of the FM station that I have tuned in to.. if it's under 100.00 on the dial then the radio cuts out when the engine is on, but if on a station over that then it works fine.
I'm thinking the deck is just ill and needs to be replaced, but I thought I'd post incase anyone else has had a similar problem and there is some other solution.
