8.8 Tower Light Fix | Replacement

I have 8.8s with the downlighting... One of the lights isn’t working completely, its full brightness, yet only 40-50% of the section illuminates.

what is that trick to removing the caps for a closer look..? I’m thinking it’s fully sealed and non serviceable, but I’m curious if this is a fix or replace situation...

the down lights are installed onto the speaker enclosures. but you must pull the speaker out of the enclosure in order to access the down lighting hardware and wiring. The downlighting can easily be replaced. requires a 10mm open ended wrench, as the power and ground go through the fastener. if you order a new pair of down lights, they come with the nut driver. JLA ships a 3d printed one. you may need a few crimps or two.

the part it self is non serviceable. if the boat is under warranty, take to dealer. if not, just fork over the money for the new pair of downlights. note: the part number for the 880s is different than the 770s. also, i apply silicone to any i install. cant recall if JL ships it with silicon for sealing, but you may need to give it a good yank to free it. or pry it off slowly with trim panel removal tools.
