2013 G23 Functional Upgrades - Looking for advice!

Hi everyone,

I am collecting a 2013 G23 in two weeks and there are a few options I have read about and wish to add in order to improve the functionality the boat could have!
The options and upgrades I wish to add, and questions associated with them include:

1. Swim Platform Ladder
- Is this an option that others find to be very useful?
- Does it AT ALL interfere with anything else, such as wake, wave, etc.?

2. Rope Hooks in the rear transom lockers
- Does anyone know if these are able to be purchased and retrofitted to the locker wall, or will I need to purchase other types and make them work?

3. Roswell/Nautique Strapless Board Racks
- For those who have thoroughly used both the strapped and strapless board racks, are these racks indeed worth the upgrade?
- Will these swing underneath a set of REV10 tower speakers fine with medium width surfboards and wakeboards? (I have standard Bimini top, not Z5 Bimini)
- Other than the impaired blindspot vision, are there any downsides found using these board racks, compared to using the standard racks?

Also, are there any other OEM or aftermarket upgrades/options you have that have been worth it you would like to share?

I added it after the fact because there are no hand-holds to get back aboard. People with short arms have a hard time reaching the center grab handle. There are no ill effects observed from its presence.

2. Rope Hooks in the rear transom lockers
- Does anyone know if these are able to be purchased and retrofitted to the locker wall, or will I need to purchase other types and make them work?

Don't have them. Never thought of them.

3. Roswell/Nautique Strapless Board Racks
- For those who have thoroughly used both the strapped and strapless board racks, are these racks indeed worth the upgrade?
- Will these swing underneath a set of REV10 tower speakers fine with medium width surfboards and wakeboards? (I have standard Bimini top, not Z5 Bimini)

My boat came with them, but we don't use them. Port and starboard don't open to the same height. The surf pockets on the bimini are better for us.

Also, are there any other OEM or aftermarket upgrades/options you have that have been worth it you would like to share?

I'm about to install a heater. There's nothing else I feel my boat needs. Your mileage may vary.

We collected the boat yesterday after a 14 hour trip each way. Cant wait to get it home and really test it this weekend.

Good point about the grab handle being far away too. that convinces me even more to get the ladder since i have shorter family members lol

About your board racks - if they are the strapless ones, you know that they can be adjusted to make them wider and narrower to accomodate for various board widths? that may be why they are different sizes currently.

For retrofitting, is it as simple as choosing the hanger location, drilling two holes for the screws, and screwing them on? Do they come with a nut or something on the other side of the engine wall to hold them in place?

Yes very simple. You have two of these identical hooks now in your boat on both sides prior to installing extras.


On your board rack question since the boat is a 2013 G23 year, more then likely it will only have the narrow tine board racks. If you plan on wakesurfing with the Surf style boards ( hollow thick boards) these racks will not work. IMHO, I would replace whatever racks you have with the vertical strapless Roswell racks. Very expensive but they would allow you to store any size or design wakeboard and/or wakesurf board in the racks

Yes I am wanting to buy Roswell or the actual Nautique branded strapless board racks just for convenience.

The previous owner did some tasteful upgrades such as upgrading the board racks to the 2017 style strapped board racks which are absolutely fine already, but I would love to get strapless ones if it is actually worth the cost to upgrade from the 2017 strapped racks. It also has a newer model Clarion head unit so bluetooth works through the LINC display, 4x Rev10 tower speakers, and upgraded both subs and 6x interior speakers also.

If your boat was upgraded to the 2017 strap racks they will have the wide rack tines(two per rack). I had those before I upgraded to the Roswell Triton racks. All stock strap racks prior to model year 2017 only had one or no wide rack tines on the racks

GMLIII Correct. I understand that they changed the racks to those. here is a snap of the ones on the boat we just got.



Do you consider the upgrade from these to strapless worth it though? or did you find the standard 2017 racks satisfied enough and you would rather have saved your money on the strapless racks?

Only concern I have is that they block such a large area when boards are mounted, so i have heard. However, the fact that the water drips from boards down and not into the board, and the fact theyre more convenient for everyone to use (first-timers on the board AND us), they seem worth it.

Along with my Fender Pro optional upgrade , the Roswell Triton racks are one of the best upgraded I purchased . Visibility is not compromised as a result of switching over to strapless racks . Much much easier to load and unload all types of boards in the strapless racks

Okay awesome, thank you for the info! I will see how we go with these to start off, but I imagine I'll be swapping them out at some stage.

going back to the rope hangers, do the ones from Nautique Parts come with everything you need to mount them, other than obviouslt drilling two holes for the bolts? I need to know that so that I can order everything ready to install ASAP.

Yes other then drilling the holes the NAUTIQUE Parts item comes with everything needed to install the hooks
