if you dont want to replace your head unit you can just use this. i been using this with my Clarion unit and it works great. it just plugs into the back of the head unit, 5 min install.

I've added a couple of the JL Audio Bluetooth adapters to stereos with good luck but I have no clue how the integration into LINC would work as far as function goes. The adapter basically works separately as an input device off the AUX port and the Bluetooth connection is make though a device like your phone. I would assume all functions like volume, fade, etc. would function normally but things like track forward or station selection on a service like Pandora would still need to be controlled at the phone.

The next option would be to swap out to an M608 but I'm not sure the juice would be worth the squeeze there. Going back 8 years on a receiver and LINC I'd be hard pressed to believe the CMD6 was using any kind of CAN Bus link to communicate to LINC. So at that point if there was integration between the 2 I would tend to believe it would function like a standard Clarion remote. It would be interesting to see what the existing connection between your CMD6 and LINK is now. If you have a 8 pin cable making the connection my bet would be that it's acting as a remote which is pretty much what the manual states.....

This feature provides universal control to the Clarion stereo
mimicking all the controls of a standard remote control. Team
edition Nautiques support the following multi-media:
• CD Player
• Audio in
• USB Input
• AM-FM Tuner
• Satellite
To access any one of these functions, press the SOURCE soft key
once. Each press will scroll to the next source. If you press and hold
the Source soft key it will power on or off the stereo.
If indeed this is the case then the cost effective solution would be to just add the Bluetooth adapter and move on with life. If you're looking to move to a newer head unit without a CD player then you can drop the $350 for the new M608 so you can maintain the remote function in LINK and get the newer device.

MLA seems to know quite a bit about boat sound systems so you may want to ping him and get his input but based on what I'm reading this would seem to be the most likely scenario.
