    Adding 7.7 Tower Speakers GS20

My GS20 came with two tower speakers and the 4 interior speakers. If I add two more tower speakers, will I need another amp? Does anyone have an idea of the increase in volume? Finally, has anyone experimented with clamping the speakers directly on the bar spaced further from the center to prevent you from hitting your heard?

Which amp(s) do you have in the boat driving those six speakers? You might be out of channels on your amp.

The first thing you need to do is take inventory of what you actually have. A standard package on a boat like yours would be a sub (2 channels), 4 interior speakers (4 channels) and with 2 tower speakers (2 channels). In a configuration like this the typical amp set up would be a JL 600/6 and a JL 200/2. If you had opted for 4 tower speakers they would have used a JL 400/4. If you have a 200/2 you'll need to upgrade the amp to a 400/4 to add the speakers or run them in parallel which may be possible but is not how I would do it or the way the factory does it.

It's rare that a company will spend more money for a amp with unused capacity these days (or ever) as even the price of screws and the amount of resin is calculated into the price/profit of a product. Only way to know for sure is to go look at what you have and see if there are any open channels.

As to sound.... Adding another amp/channels and speakers will definitely make the package louder by a considerable and noticeable amount. So would going to larger speakers. If you're running 770s now the 880s would be an upgrade but are also bigger so if you're having issues bumping into your speakers now.......
